    Recycle old candles

Candle lovers out there know how expensive it can be to burn candles every day as we love to do.

This is a little trick that I had forgotten about since my candle making supplies are buried in my craft room, but I plan on digging them out soon!

Back in the day when my yard was my Paradise, I bought candle holders on sticks and lined them down the pathways and placed here and there for effect at night.  It took lots of candles to do this and I would recycle them regularly.

What I used were old juice glasses and custard dishes as well as my trusty decorated recycled glass jars.  They looked gorgeous out there at night!

The tutorial will show you how to do it and what supplies you will need from the craft store.  It is relatively inexpensive to recycle your old candles.  Safety is always first, don't go wandering around the house while melting candle wax . . . I use a dedicated pot just for melting candle wax.

You will look at glass items with different eyes when you go shopping as you can find some very interesting glass pieces that are appropriate for candles at yard sales, dollar stores and thrift stores.  Go through your collection of glass items at home . . . you never know what treasures you will come across that you forgot you even had!

    Awesome decorated glass jar

Love this jar which has given me so much inspiration!

This post is for inspiration only.  I found this photo on Pinterest that led to an Etsy page that no long exists, so there is no tutorial to go with the jar.  However, use your imagination with some old jewelry and the appropriate glue and you can create a jar just as pretty.

I'm still gathering up glass jars for future projects . . . I love recycling glass items!

Look at what you can make with a drinking glass, a tuna can, a stick and some paint :)

Isn't recycling and trash to treasure projects amazing?

    Elegant Glass Jars

Decorated glass jars are popping up everywhere!

This post is for inspiration only . . .
the photo source link does not include a tutorial.

The decorated jars are simple, yet elegant.  For the glittered jar, brush the jar with Modge Podge and roll in glitter.  The gold painted jar seems to be spray painted.  Check out my other posts on decorating glass jars for tutorials on other projects.

How to prep glass jars for upcycling

Recycling glass jars is one of my favorite things, especially for use in the kitchen.  But they really come in handy for storing jewelry components, beads and miscellaneous parts and pieces in the craft room.

My favorite glass jars are the ones pasta sauce comes in.  They look like mason jars, but they are free.

I found this tutorial on Vintage Zest, a new blog discovery.  Diane has put together a blog she describes as a collection of all of her favorite things which coincide with my favorite things too.  Awesome blog discovery I know you will also enjoy!

    Organize your spices

Do you love stocking lots of spices,
but lack the space to organize
    all those little bottles?

We are in the process of reorganizing our kitchen and organizing all the spices has proven to be quite a challenge since we both love to cook and have collected quite a spice collection.  In the past, I have organized spices on little wire racks that attach to the inside of cabinet doors . . . but I have been looking for new ways to organize them.

I've featured many glass jar projects that would work perfectly with either one of these two spice storage solutions to color coordinate, ending up with an organization solution that also accessorizes the kitchen.

Click here for my glass jar project posts from the past.

I've seen different variations of the above storage solution, but I like that this one features a rack.  How cute is that?  Click here for the tutorial.

I love these little wall boxes . . . they serve as a storage solution as well as accessorize the kitchen.  Actually, this is a great storage solution for any room!

Both of these projects come from the website Fresh Home Ideas . . . one of my favorites!

    Creative uniqueness

Seems like I have been sick forever, but finally . . . I'm feeling way better after giving in to having to take antibiotics and quit trying to heal myself like I normally do.  Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

The Captain and I spent the past couple of days cleaning up the yard and working toward getting the gates up in the front yard to give us more privacy.  Mounds of garbage are lined up at the street and we have much more to go.  The disadvantages of having a large property!  Lots of cleanup and maintenance.

I'm finally getting back to my normal online activity . . . and have found awesome new websites and some really cool stuff that very creative people have come up with.  The following are a few that I had to feature . . . the theme is creative uniqueness.

    Faux Metal Wall Art

I have been blown away by this craft.

Unless you have seen this done somewhere else, I bet you can't guess what materials are used in these gorgeous examples of wall art.  The concept is ingenious!  I love it!!!

Let me not ruin the surprise materials . . . if you like Suzy's wall art and would love to dabble in this craft that she created, click on the photo to go to the tutorial and be amazed at her creative genius!!

Suzy is my new favorite craft goddess!

Sandy Elliott of Cherished Handmade Treasures has come up with a new twist to the glass jar crafting thing . . . everyone else has been repurposing glass jars by making candles . . . Sandy has made actual lights out of them!

    AWESOME IDEA!!
    Cherished Handmade Treasures

Glass jars . . . I love them . . . I'm always looking for new and creative uses.  I really hate that the trend is for the food manufacturers to use plastic jars.  Click here for some of my past posts that feature creative uses of glass jars.

Leave me a comment if you have an awesome craft (with a link to the post) and I may feature it in a future post . . . especially glass jar projects :)
