Handmade Jewelry Clasps and Coil Ends

Corded necklaces are very trendy, casual and seem really easy to make.  I've often wondered how to handle the cord ends . . . I have seen some really tacky looking cord ends as I've gone through the internet checking out handmade jewelry for ideas.

Love this handmade clasp from Beaded Gem that neatly takes care of those cord ends . . . now I have no excuse but to add corded necklaces to my list of handmade jewelry to make.

    DIY Anthro Pernilla Necklace

Bev at Flamingo Toes made her own version (shown above) of the following necklace that is a pricey $198 at Anthropologie.  Why pay so much when you can make your own for a lot less than that!  Can you tell the difference between the two necklaces?

What I love about this necklace is that it is a basic design that you can use components from broken jewelry or jewelry pieces you would like to refashion.  I know in my stash of vintage jewelry, I have boxes and boxes and could make all types of variations of this necklace.  Of course you can use new jewelry components found at craft stores.

Another thing I love about this design is that it opens up many possibilities for complimenting pieces of jewelry with all the varying pieces used in the necklace.

Are you ready to attempt your own necklace?

DIY Earrings White And Gold Pearls And Beads

These gorgeous earrings were found on Cut Out And Keep, a website full of craft tutorials.  The tutorial was submitted by Gisele R.  Love the design of these earrings!

As with most jewelry projects, you can recycle some beads from older jewelry you are tired of or purchase new beads and components.  The choice is yours and your creativity is the limit.

    DIY Cigar Box Ring Holder

Cigar boxes were all the rage a while back and I bought way too many as I usually do, anticipating getting myself into making money with the new craze. Well, they are currently sitting in my craft room laughing at me!

My thought has been to use the boxes to store jewelry making supplies, but I love the idea of using them to hold rings that I have collected through the years.  Great idea . . . easy too!

Paper clip & junk mail bracelet

This bracelet takes recycling to another level!

It is made with paper clips and junk mail.

Of course you could use colorful gift wrapping paper,
     magazine pages, etc.

What an excellent project for little girls!!

    DIY Rhinestone Statement Necklace

I'm back with another DIY jewelry project from Rebecca at My Girlish Whims.

    Love her creations!

She made this gorgeous necklace with new jewelry components, but, as usual, you can use broken jewelry that needs new life which is what I love to do.  I have some beautiful new vintage stock cabochons that would look awesome mixed with some rhinestones.

    Pearl and Rhinestone Leather Bracelet

Bev at Flamingo Toes has come up with another awesome beaded bracelet design!

As with all jewelry designs, you can use new or vintage components or a combination of both.  Vintage rhinestones is my favorite and I have boxes and boxes of components and broken jewelry that I can use for these type of bracelets.  Can't wait to start creating!

I have some ideas for coming up with a different base for the bracelet instead of leather.  Keep checking my blog . . . I'm almost ready to start getting creative again.

Thanks Bev!  You can go to her tutorial for this bracelet here.  Check out the rest of her blog while you are there . . . she is amazingly creative :)

    DIY Beaded Wrapped Bracelets

I love these beaded wrapped bracelets that I've been seeing all over the internet for quite some time.

There is a huge amount of purple suede wider cording sitting in my craft room that has been in need of a project for so long.  It was part of a barter trade I made at least a decade ago . . . I have lots of that kind of stuff hanging around my craft room.  Anyway . . . I think it would make beautiful bracelets with a bit wider cord including some bigger beads for something different.

When I found this tutorial on Life of Charmings, I thought it was time to get serious about what to do with that purple cord!

    Happy beading!

DIY Multi-Strand Chain and Bead Necklace

What a gorgeous necklace!  With the same basic techniques you could also make earrings and bracelet to match.

The jewelry designer used new materials, but you can also make a beautiful piece of refashioned jewelry from your vintage jewelry pieces that are broken or that you are just tired of.

    Spray Painted Jewelry

Kim from the blog Made in a Day came up with the ingenious idea of spray painting old jewelry to make it new again!

Awesome idea that is so much easier than my method!

I've painted jewelry before, but I primarily used primer, enamel paint and a brush.  The results were outstanding!  Using spray paint is perfect for those items that requires a larger area to paint rather than painting something intricate.

    DIY Ombre Necklace

Love this DIY necklace that has so many design possibilities!

The necklace in the tutorial utilizes new jewelry components, but you can use components from some of your broken vintage jewelry and come up with your own refashioned piece of jewelry.  Recycling old jewelry is one of my favorite projects.

The design features four varying lengths of chain with beads attached.  I can imagine the movement of this necklace!

This DIY jewelry project comes from Allie, the creator of all things Miss Lovie. On her blog you'll find great tutorials and ideas on jewelry making, sewing, home decor, holiday decorations and more! I have included her button on my Favorite DIY/ Crafty Blogs page for future reference.

    DIY Shades of Autumn Bracelet

Love the design of this bracelet!  My favorite part of the bracelet design is the use of end caps to keep all the stands together.

This is another one of those jewelry designs that can utilize vintage jewelry to make into refashioned jewelry or new jewelry components.

Vintage beaded necklaces are a great source of unusual beads to use in this project.

    DIY Beaded Teardrop Earrings

I love beaded jewelry projects.  Maybe it is since I have what seems to be an endless supply of vintage jewelry that needs recycling.  Another thing in my jewelry design stash are boxes of new vintage components that I purchased many years ago.

What I love about this project other than the use of beads is the use of chains. If you have a large stash of vintage jewelry, you no doubt have lots of chain that needs recycling.

Of course you can use new jewelry components as Aki, the original designer did.  Like most of us who make jewelry, she was inspired by a very expensive piece of jewelry she found on the internet.

You can also take the new techniques you learn from her tutorial to make an entirely different style. Wouldn't this make an awesome pendant for a matching necklace?  Let your imagination be your guide!  Being creative can be so rewarding . . . at least it is for me.

Click here for Aki's tutorial.  Her blog, Minted Strawberry is a collection of different types of crafts and DIY projects.  She's got projects for the crafter in all of us!  I look forward to checking out more of her awesome blog.

    DIY Refashioned Jewelry

I love this mixing of beads and chains on this necklace!

This project was made by Rachel from the blog Adventures of a DIY Mom.  I don't know if she used all new jewelry components or pieces from vintage jewelry to come up with a gorgeous refashion jewelry piece.

Since I have the boxes and boxes of vintage jewelry, I would preferably use a broken piece of jewelry to resurrect into a new piece.  What I love about using old jewelry pieces is that the patina of all the components match (if only one piece is used).  It would be awesome if there are enough beads, chain and other jewelry components to make other jewelry pieces like earrings or a bracelet to match.

Stunning Necklace ~ Jewelry Making Project

Love this stunning necklace . . . wearing it would make a bold fashion statement!

The creator of this awesome necklace used new items, but with all the boxes of vintage jewelry stacked in my office, it has provided great inspiration for a refashion jewelry project.

An old beaded vintage necklace should provide an ample amount of beads to make a very cool and unique creation.

Sara Marie of Everyday Bijoux is a jewelry designer with an Etsy shop and a lovely blog.  She writes about how she was inspired to make this gorgeous necklace, the materials she used and the problems she encountered. Awesome article for you crafters who enjoy making your own jewelry or inspirational for those who are jewelry designers.  Click here for the blog post.

Hope you enjoy her blog and Etsy shop as much as I have!
