    Frugal Holiday?

The holiday season can be an awesome time of year, however, with the economy as it is and the high unemployment rate, are families starting to opt for frugal holidays?  Is society in general still using credit cards to finance the holidays
     . . . going into more debt?

As an active frugalogist, I wonder how everyone else treats the holiday gift-giving tradition.  What I've done in the past is give handmade items, like my Oreo chocolate chip cheesecake.  Shouldn't it be the thought that counts?  Don't spend money you don't have?

For me, you can never be too frugal if that is what your life circumstances calls for.  Sometimes it is a matter of survival . . . sometimes the practicality of future goals?

Heather at Family Friendly Frugality has an awesome post
about frugality which asks the question "is frugality overrated?

Well, her whole blog is awesome . . . click here for the post.

Today marks the beginning of the big pig out for me and my partner . . .
    cooking for Thanksgiving!

Part of the fun of Thanksgiving is having someone to cook with . . .

First thing to cook are the Oreo chocolate chip cheesecakes!

Of course I'll be blog hopping and have started to enjoy some weekly events that I am listing along with blog hops.  You can find a complete listing at the bottom of the blog page . . . the has grown to the point where it needs its own page!

I definitely live by the frugal mode - which is one of the reasons I don't own any credit cards, I don't want to spend money I don't have! :)

Frugalogist...I think I just fell in love! LOL That's awesome.

I'm glad you enjoyed my post and my hop!

I see going into debt over the Holidays the same way you do. I mean why? Do your friends and loved ones really want to be responsible for you still paying for their gifts next August? I sincerely doubt it! LOL

I think it's important in general. I mean, you can spend a lot of money on stuff that your friends and family aren't that interested in, or you could get something that they really need. My family will give each other stuff like body wash, since it's one of those nice items you know the other person will use, and they're a treat.
